William 'Eddie' Edward Owens Jr.

          William Edward Owens Jr., age 89, of Alpena, joined his loved ones in Heaven, Saturday afternoon on April 25, 2020.  

          On January 23, 1931, Eddie was born to the late William and Dolores (Gagnon) Owens Sr. in Grosse Point Farms, Michigan. Eddie attended St. Bernard and St. Anne Catholic Schools. He joined the US Navy where he sailed all over the world for four years. When he returned to Alpena he worked as a Bartender for his parents at the original Grove Restaurant, where he met Sylvia Skiba. On June 19, 1954, Eddie married Sylvia at St. Anne Catholic Church, which his grandfather Eli Gagnon had built. He later worked as a Jeweler and Realtor agent. Eddie was a huge fan of boats, most of all adored his Sylvia, and spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.    

          He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Sylvia, and their 7 children; five daughters: Michelle (Gary) Smith, Lori (Jon) Person, Kerry Owens, Nina (Jerry) Irwin, and Rebecca (Lee) Male; two sons: Steven (Vicky) Owens and Harry (Karen) Owens; 18 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren.

          Eddie was preceded in death by one son little Eddie who passed at birth.

          Arrangements were handled through the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home. Private Family Services were held. A Public Memorial is scheduled during the first week of August of 2020. An updated announcement will be made in the future by the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home.

          Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery
