Thomas L Skiba

Thomas Lee Skiba, age 79, of Alpena, passed away suddenly on Sunday, September 11, 2016 at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Alpena.
Thomas was the ninth child of sixteen born to the late Anthony and Agnes (Wielinski) Skiba on January 8, 1937, in Alpena. He married Joy Anne Richards on June 13, 1959 in Wyandotte, MI. He was the owner of Skiba Insurance Services for over 40 years. As an avid outdoorsman and lifelong resident of Alpena, he enjoyed all that Alpena had to offer. A humanitarian at heart, he donated to many local charities and organizations. He was an active member of the Alpena Lions Club, Alpena Yacht Club, a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Coulumbus, a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church and St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish. He answered a personal call to help those in need. His devoted faith in God and dedication to his wife and family was an inspiration to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Joy Anne, and their six children: Noel Skiba, Hollee (Bruce) Hart, Thomas J. Skiba, Timothy (Tina) Skiba, Kevin (Linda) Skiba, and Heidi Skiba. His grandchildren: Paul VanEss, Allen, Ashley, and Michael Hart, Brandon (Norma) Skiba, Lessie (Trevor) Longstreet, Victoria, Courtney, and Rudi Skiba, Rebekah (Zachary) Miller, Rachel, Julia, Anna, and Mary Skiba, and one great grandchild Brandon. His five surviving brothers: Charles (Mary Anne) Skiba, Dr. Tony (Carla) Skiba, Pete (Lynne) Skiba, Patrick Skiba, Richard (Chris) Skiba, and his four surviving sisters: Arlene Smith, Loretta (Russell) Rhoads, Helen Campbell, and Deborah Riiber.
Thomas is preceded in death by his three brothers Daniel Skiba, Dr. Gerald Skiba, Albert Skiba, and his sister Alice Szczukowski.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Wednesday, September 14, 2016, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 2pm until 8pm with a Parish Prayer Service beginning at 7pm. Visitation will continue on Thursday, September 15, 2016, at St. Bernard Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 10 am until 11 am. The Mass of Christian Burial with Msgr. Rev. David Greka officiating at 11 am.
