Theresa Dorothy Weinkauf

            Theresa Dorothy Weinkauf, age 87, of Alpena, left us to join her husband in heaven; peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Turning Brook Retirement Facility. 

            Theresa Kuchinski was born in Rogers City, MI on August 28, 1931, to the late Vincent and Yanina Kuchinski. On October 23, 1948, she married Walter G. Weinkauf Sr. and remained together for 62 years making their home in Alpena. Theresa, the matriarch of the family, provided love and care for the family her entire life, raising their 10 children on Bedford Street. Prayers were said nightly, before bed time, thanking God for life, and blessing the children's parents and grandparents. Theresa prayed daily for her husband, children, parents and many others in her life. Theresa was a very kind and considerate person, caring for her husband and children throughout her life, brought her much happiness. Once the children were raised, she completed high school by attending night classes, an accomplishment she was very proud of. While taking German classes she was asked to chaperone the class students on their annual trip to Germany, so she and Walter made two trips to Germany.

            She is survived by her 9 children: Walter Jr. (Susan); Robert; Douglas, William (Chawee), Alan (Judy); Karen, Barbara, Steven, Diane (Doug), daughter-in-law: Vicky; 15 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; one brother: Sylvester and several nieces and nephews.

            Theresa was preceded in death by her husband Walter Sr., one son: Jerrold R. Weinkauf, one daughter-in-law: Connie Weinkauf, and five brothers and sisters.

            Family and friends will gather for memorial visitation at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Friday, July 5, 2019, from 4 p.m. until the Memorial Service begins at 7 p.m. with Fr. Joe Muszkiewicz officiating.

            Interment: Holy Cross Cemetery

            In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Michigan or the Huron Humane Society in memory of Theresa.
