Sophia Lillian Orban

Sophia "Sophie" L. Orban, age 87, of Alpena, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday, January 18, 2017, at Tendercare Alpena.
Sophia was born on August 14, 1929, to the late Alex and Mary (Yarch) Krawczak in Rogers City, MI. On November 6, 1950, she married Leonard "Lennie" Orban at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Rogers City, MI. She was a member of St. Casmir Catholic Church, the V.F.W. Auxiliary, and Daughters of Isabella.
She is survived by her loving husband of 66 years, Leonard Leo and their five children, Carol (Fritz) Weber of Lachine, MI; Kathleen (Leonard) Pangonis of St. Clair Shores, MI; Marcia (Bob) Wodkowski of Grand Lake, MI; Jeffery (Brenda) Orban of Long Rapids, MI; and Lenore (Dan) Dietz of Alpena, MI. Her 10 grandchildren Michael Wisniewski, Tamara Spomer, Mathew Pangonis, John (Adrienne) Wodkowski, Tina (Matt) Michulka, Jessica Wodkowski, Amanda Wodkowski, Becky (Matt) Brege, and Sarah (Ryan) Frost; Rachael (Jason) Schoenberg; 13 great-grandchildren; her brother Chester (Theresa) Krawczak; her two sisters Alice Darga and Eleanor (Mark) Misiak.
Sophia was preceded in death by four brothers Albin, Louis, Joseph and Leonard Krawczak, her two sisters Gertrude and Anna.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Friday, January 20, 2017, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 2 pm until 8 pm, with a Daughters of Isabella Rosary Service beginning at 6:30 pm followed by a Parish Prayer Service. Visitation will continue on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at St. Casmir Catholic Church from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial begins with Rev. Arthur Duchnowicz officiating.
