'Rusty' Russell G. Rhoads

Russell "Rusty" Rhoads, age 88, of Alpena, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, September 2, 2017, at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan.
He was born on August 22, 1929, to the late Germain and Mable (Burnash) Rhoads in Flint, Michigan. On December 31, 1960, he married Loretta Skiba at St. Mary Catholic Church. Russell worked for Fraser Products and Fletcher Paper Mill. He was a member of St. Anne Catholic Church, an Honorary member of the C-J Gun Club, and the Knights of Columbus Third and Fourth Degree.
Russell is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Loretta and their four children: Laurie (Christopher) Bump of FL; Linda Rhoads of FL; Steve (Della-Rae) Rhoads of Alpena, MI; Bridget (Dr. Timothy Moeckel) of GA. His 5 grandchildren: Eric Rhoads, Ashley Tucker, Andrew Moeckel, Mariah Rhoads, Marissa Rhoads, and one great-granddaughter Scarlet Rhoads.
He was preceded in death by his brother Carl and his step-father Herman Hiske.
Family and friends will gather at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home for visitation on Thursday, September 7, 2017, from 2pm until 8 pm with a Parish Prayer Service beginning at 7 pm, followed by the K of C Third Degree Presentation of the Mass and the Fourth Degree Chalice presentation. Visitation will continue at St. Anne Catholic Church of All Saints Parish on Friday, September 8, 2017, from 10 am until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11 am with Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating.
