Patrick Gerald Dignan, age 86, of Alpena passed away peacefully on December 24, 2020, at home in the company of his wife and son.
Patrick was born on January 28, 1934, in Alpena, Michigan to William "Jerry" and Audrey (Noiles) Dignan. He married Theresa Stepanski on October 4, 1958, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Alpena.
Patrick worked as a design engineer for Besser Company for 39 years. He was then employed at W. G. Benjey as a shop manager and designer until ill health forced him to retire. Patrick was a member of the Army National Guard and Reserve for twelve years, and was also a member of All Saints Parish. He loved life, greeted everybody he knew with a big smile, and found humor in everything. He loved his family and greatly enjoyed hunting, bowling, playing cards, casinos and working in his yard.
Patrick is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Theresa; son, James (Caroline) of Fairport, NY and granddaughters, Sarah and Anna. He is also survived by his brother, Richard (Helen) Dignan of Verona, WI; sister, Joan (Sonny) Chrzan of Alpena, MI and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his twin sister, Patricia (John) Kreft.
Family and friends will gather for Memorial Visitation on Monday, May 24, 2021, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until the Memorial Service begins at 12:00 p.m. with Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating, followed by Full Military Honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post 2496.
