Patricia L. Walchak

            Patricia L. Walchak, age 84, of Alpena passed away peacefully surrounded by her 6 children on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Alpena, better known by Patricia as the Alpena General Hospital.

            On July 1, 1933, Patricia was born to the late Elmer and Delema (Rondeau)McCoy in Black River, MI. On December 26, 1953, Patricia married Richard Walchak at St. Gabriel Catholic Church in Black River, Michigan. He preceded her in death after 21 years together in April of 1974. Patricia was a wonderful daughter, mother, and sister. She was loved by all those who knew her, especially during her time as a cashier at the A & P store. She deeply loved her family and truly enjoyed working with the public. People still remember her for her bright smile and natural sweetness as they checked through her line. She loved embroidery, quilting, reading, bird watching and gazing out her backyard window. Patricia was a member of St. Bernard Catholic Church of All Saints Parish and will always be remembered for being kind and thoughtful and always ready to lend a hand to those who needed one.

            Patricia will be deeply missed by her family and leaves behind her 6 children: Mary L. (Gary) Anderson of W. Sacramento, CA; Karol L. Walchak of Alpena, MI; Edwin J. (Michelle) Walchak of Munroe, MI; Rita J. (John) Fuoco of Carmichael, CA; Theresa L. (Michael) Grant of Folsom, CA; and Norman J. Walchak of Summerville, SC; 11 grandchildren: Patrick Walchak, Kristen Mendez, Lee Grant, Geoffrey Walchak, Brianna Fuoco, Melissa Grant, Alexander Walchak, Jacqueline Walchak, Sabrina Walchak, Sara Walchak, and Logan Walchak; 5 siblings: Bernice Miller, Margaret Cotter, Louis McCoy, Sandra Frank, and Anna McCoy.

            She was preceded in death by her three daughters Linda, Denise, and Deborah Walchak, one son Robert Walchak, three sisters: Geneva Curl, Dorothy DeRosia, Theresa Gauthier, and one brother Thomas McCoy.

            Family and friends will gather for Visitation on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 4 pm until 8 pm with a Parish Prayer Service at 7 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, March 12, 2018, at St. Bernard Catholic Church of All Saints Parish from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial begins with Fr. Joe Muszkiewicz officiating.

            Internment: Holy Cross Cemetery
