Miriam V. Benoit

            Miriam V. Benoit, age 80, of Alpena passed away peacefully on June 19, 2018, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Midland surrounded by her family.

            On April 16, 1938, Miriam was born to the late Larry and Flora (Matzke) Behnke in Alpena, Michigan. On January 9, 1960, Miriam married Wayne Benoit at St. Anne Catholic Church. She was employed by the Alpena General Hospital and later worked as a secretary for the Alpena Public Schools. Miriam was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church; Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary; Eucharistic Minister at St. Mary Catholic Church and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She loved to play her organ, knit and crochet, along with relaxing by the fire, camping, fishing, and traveling.

            She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Wayne and their three children: Peggy (Tom) Kolnowski of Austin, TX; Randy (Lori) Benoit and Linda (Wayne) Mischloney both of Alpena, MI; 9 grandchildren: Erin, Brendon, Afton, Amber, Danny, Emma, Heidi, Rachel, and Jesse; 7 great-grandchildren: Alexis, Eli, Logan, Collin, Adriana, Gracelynn, and Riley. She is also survived by her two brothers Gary (Mary Ann) Behnke of Ark.; Ken (Janet) Behnke of Alpena, MI; one sister Barb (Hugh) Lynch of Florida and several nieces and nephews.

            Family and friends will gather for Visitation on Sunday, June 24, 2018, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 2 pm until 8 pm. Visitation will continue on Monday, June 25, 2018, from 12 noon until the Funeral Service begins at 2 pm at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home with Msgr. David Greka officiating.
