Maxine F. Markey

            Maxine F. Markey, age 81, of Alpena passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 10, 2019.

            On June 21, 1938, Maxine was born in Grosse Isle, Michigan to the late Ulysses and Lena (L'Heureux) Mayville. Maxine worked for Sally's Care Home for over 30 years. She was a member of the Word of Life Baptist Church. Maxine's greatest joy in life was to laugh and have others laugh with her.  She lived to help people with compassion and understanding. Her hobbies were craft projects and playing Uno.

            She is survived by her daughter Ruth Drane of Alpena, MI; four grandchildren : Michelle Steinhilber, Michael Precord, Chelsea Drane and Travis Drane; 6 great grandchildren: Tyler, Jacob, Lauren, Brett, Damian, and Javidson.

            Maxine was preceded in death by two husbands: Francis Sawade and later Alfred "Hank" Markey along with her daughter Kim Precord.

            Per her wishes she has been taken for cremation by the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home. A private family memorial will be held at a later date.

            Inurnment: Michigan Memorial Park Cemetery in Flat Rock, Michigan.

            In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the local Relay for Life organization.
