U.S. VeteranMarvin L. Wysocki, age 88, of Alpena, passed away after an extended illness, Friday, July 14, 2017, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Alpena, surrounded by his family.
On February 2, 1929,Marvin was born in Alpena, Michigan to the late Edmund and Frances (Zilinski) Wysocki. He was a graduate of St. Mary School in 1943 and the Alpena High School in 1947. Marvin served 9 years with the Alpena Unit, Company B, Michigan National Guard, 1948 - 1957. He devoted 42 1/2 years to banking, employed by the Peoples State Bank of Alpena, Alpena Savings Bank and First of America Bank Alpena, retiring in 1991, as an Assistant Vice President of Operations. He was a life member of St. Mary Catholic Church, A 50 year member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 529, Alpena Country Club, and Over 40 Pool League. Marvin was a proud bowler and was the Past President of the Alpena Men's Bowling Association (1978), past Director and President of the Michigan Polish Bowling Association, and a member of the Lucky Strike Bowling League and the Senior Bowling League. He is best remembered for his 25 years (1951 - 1976) of prize - winning, outdoor, home Christmas displays at the family residence on River Street. Also, for over 17 years of designing and building 4th of July floats, having won 3 Grand Prizes.
He is survived by his 6 Nieces and 6 Nephews: Patti (Doug) Clute, Robert Beyer, Dale Beyer, Jean (Ron) Skiera, Julie (Joe) Ruczynski, Marie Wysocki, Theresa (Glen) Masters, Annette Wysocki-Nussbaum, Timothy Wysocki, Michael Wysocki, Jeffery (Shelly) Wysocki and Joseph Wysocki. One sister-in-law Joan Wysocki of Alpena, MI; and long time friends Sonny (Joan) Chrzan.
Marvin was preceded in death by his parents Edmund (1962) and Frances (1978) Wysocki; sister Gladys Beyer (1999), and 4 brothers: Patrick (1990), Donald (1996), Robert (2002) and Thomas (2003), a nephew Jack Wysocki (2005).
Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home for Visitation from 2 pm until 8 pm, with an All Saints Rosary Service beginning at 3:00 pm, a joint Parish and K of C Prayer Service beginning at 7:00 pm, followed by Full Military Honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post 2496 and the MI Army National Guard. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, July 19, 2017, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 10:00 am until the closing prayer at 10:45 am, followed by a procession to St. Mary Catholic Church of All Saints Parish for the 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial with Rev. Fr. James Fitzpatrick concelebrating.
Internment: Holy Cross Cemetery; Alpena, Michigan.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church of All Saints Parish or All Saints School.
