Lucille “Lou” LaMarre of Alpena passed away peacefully at Besser Senior Living Community on Wednesday, August 10, 2022 at the age of 98.
Lou LaMarre was born in Alpena on May 27, 1924 to the late Walter and Mary (Maciejewski) Donakowski and married F. ”Joe” LaMarre on October 5th 1946 at St Marys Catholic Church. Together Lou & Joe enjoyed 66 years of marriage. Lou & Joe built a beautiful life enriched by their friends, family, and travels across the globe. Lou made friends wherever she went and always made you feel at home. She often told stories of how she loved ice skating, making afghans, and cooking turkeys for funerals and church events. She was a magician in the kitchen, Lou also enjoyed playing cards, reading, going to the Dollar Store and most of all visiting with her friends and family.
Known around the community as the “paczki & cream puff queen” as she would make twelve dozen paczkis every Easter for Church and endless cream puffs. Remembered by her friends and neighbors from Besser Senior Living and The Woods apartments as “meals on wheels” for always having snacks or cookies to give away and ensuring that no one went hungry. Recognized by her family as the “Lucky One” as she had a knack for constantly winning the raffle prize or free giveaways at various events.
Lou is survived by her children, Judy (Charlie) Geer, Bill (Elaine) LaMarre, Suzii (Ed) LaCross, John LaMarre, Tom LaMarre, six granddaughters, Lisa, Kathryn, Lauren, Amy, Kristin, Heather, and 3 great grandchildren.
