Linda D. Degrow

            Linda D. DeGrow, age 72, of Charlevoix, MI passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2019, surrounded by her family at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Alpena.

            Born on March 3, 1947, in Boston, MA, Linda was the daughter of the late Robert and Ruth (Morrison) Murray. She married Lynn DeGrow on May 25, 1968, in Sudbury, MA. Linda was a physical therapist and founded the aquatic therapy program at the Charlevoix Area Hospital. She was a member of the Charlevoix United Methodist Church and the Charlevoix Zonta Club.

            She is survived by her loving husband of 52 years, Lynn and their four children: Anne (Greg) Harmon of Mikado, MI; Darcie (Rick) Clapp of Grand Haven, MI; Brad (Liz) DeGrow of Cary, NC; Kurt (Jenny) DeGrow of Allegan, MI; eight grandchildren: Kyle and Brooke Harmon, Claire and Ian Clapp, Ella and Abby DeGrow, Max and Grace DeGrow; and one brother Jeff (Carole) Murray of Natick, MA.

            She was preceded in death by one sister Cindy Murray of Charlevoix, MI.

            Linda's personality was always positive and full of life, she was the type of person that you wanted to be around. There are many laughable stories of Linda acting playful with her friends and family. Her willingness to give back was generous whether you were family, friend, acquaintance, or stranger.  Of strong mind, she effortlessly navigated life with too many accomplishments to list them all. Very active in Charlevoix area Zonta Club, holding both local and district offices, she was an advocate for the empowerment of women and girls of all ages. Active in church, an avid quilter, master of scrabble and mahjong player. She enjoyed traveling, kayaking, camping, gardening, and hosting with exceptional cooking skills. Able to make friends wherever she went; she will be missed by all whose lives she touched.

                        Per her wishes cremation arrangements were in care of the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a future date.

            In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Charlevoix United Methodist Church or the Charlevoix area Zonta Club in memory of Linda.
