Leo J. Kruczynski

            Leo J. Kruczynski, age 90, of Alpena passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at home.

            On January 18, 1928, he was born in Posen, Michigan to the late John and Elizabeth (Wieschowski) Kruczynski. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. Was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Third Degree. Leo married Dolores Smigelski July 7, 1951, at St. Mary Catholic Church by Fr. George Klimas, and was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church of All Saints Parish. He owned and operated the Alpena Meat Wholesale for 28 years, and later was a meat cutter at the Commissary in Oscoda. Leo was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved being outdoors. Most important in his life was his family and his home, the place he named "Heaven on Earth."

            He is survived by his loving wife Dolores of 66 years, and their six children: Kathy (Craig) Dean, Mike (Peggy) Kruczynski, Bill (Mary Jane) Kruczynski, Sue (Harold) Wilson, John Kruczynski, and Mary (Mike) Tanner; seven grand children: Brian, Eric, Chad, Tracy, Tommy, Boone, and Kristin; and five great-grandchildren: Gage, Jacob, Madison, Benson, and Max.

            Leo was preceded in death by eight siblings: Clara, Josephine, Gertrude, Phillip, Sylvester, Edward, Ida, and Martha.

            Family and friends will gather for visitation on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral from 2 pm until 8 pm, with a Parish Prayer Service at 7 pm followed by Full Military Honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post 2496. Visitation will continue at St. Mary Catholic Church of All Saints Parish on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, from 10 am until the 11 am Mass of Christian Burial begins with Rev. Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating.

            Internment: Holy Cross Cemetery

            Memorials may be made to Hospice of Michigan.
