Keith Allen Burt

Keith Allen Burt, 65, of Alpena, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Tuesday, December 5, 2017, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Alpena.
On January 25, 1952, Keith was born to George and Joan (Heine) Burt in Harrisville, Michigan. He graduated from Alpena High School in 1970, and continued his education at Alpena Community College until he joined the Army National Guard and served for 7 years.
Keith married Jean (Jeannie) McDonald on July 13, 1974, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Alpena. They have three children and five grandchildren.
He worked for GTE, which later became Verizon, as a supply currier for 31 years before retiring in 2009. Keith was very active in the community. He served as president of the Thunder Bay 250, director for the World Pro-Enduro Snowmobile Circuit, president of the JC's Service Club, and head chairman of the GTE Safety Committee. Keith was also an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church; he served as superintendent of Sunday School and was currently serving as the vice president of the Church Board. He had many passions including classic cars, music, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Keith is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Jeannie, and their three children: Nicholas (Sarah) Burt of Alpena, MI; Natalie (Charles) French of Clio, MI; Nathan Burt of Alpena, MI; five grandchildren: Rylie, Elliot, Mason, Cooper, and Mariana; his mother: Joan Burt of Alpena, MI; brother: Dale Burt of Alpena, MI; and sister: Nancy (Gary) Preece of Shortsville, NY.
He was preceded in death by his father George Burt.
Family and friends will gather for Memorial Visitation at Immanuel Lutheran Church on Saturday, December 9, 2017, from 9:00 am until the Memorial Service begins at 11:00 am with Pastor James Erickson officiating.
Memorial contributions can be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church Kitchen Fund or to the family.
Per Keith's wishes he has donated to the Gift of Life and will later be interred at Evergreen Cemetery.
