Karen S. Matuzak

Karen S. Matuzak, age 73, of Alpena passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 1, 2017, at Tendercare Alpena surrounded by her family.
Karen was born to the late James and Bernadeen (Wethers) McQuarrie on August 4, 1943, in Alpena, Michigan. On November 10, 1962, she married James "Jim" Matuzak at St. Anne Catholic Church with Msgr. Simon officiating. Karen retired from CMH after working there for several years. She was a member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Ladies Lunch Club, former member of Aid by the Dozen, and enjoyed her time with many friends and family, she also loved to garden and read novels. Karen loved spending time with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years Jim, and their two sons Charles (Shelly) Matuzak of Maple City, and Allen (Jean) Matuzak of Alpena. Her three grandchildren: Megan, Kaylee, and Marissa; two great-grandchildren McKenna and Angela; two brothers Robert McQuarrie and Gary McQuarrie; two sisters Sandi (Robin) Bedard and Lori (Mike) Shellberg along with serveral nieces and nephews..
Karen was preceded in death by her son Steven Matuzak, grandson Michael, and her sister Janice.
Family and friends will gather for visitation at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, from 2 p.m. until the 6 p.m. Memorial Service begins with Rev. James Fitzpatrick officiating at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home
