Joyce Marie Mischloney

Joyce Marie Mischloney, born Joyce Marie VanWagnor on December 15, 1931, in Alpena, Michigan, peacefully passed away on July 12, 2024 in Alpena. She was a devoted homemaker, renowned for her exceptional care and warmth towards her family and friends' legacy extends beyond her nurturing nature; she was also known for her extraordinary talent as a cake decorator, creating beautiful cakes that brought joy to countless celebratory occasions over the years.

Throughout her life, Joyce found solace and purpose in various hobbies such as knitting, gardening, canning, and quilting. Her love for creating and nurturing extended not only to her hobbies but also to the cherished moments she spent with her children and grandchildren. A devout Catholic, Joyce was a fixture at St. Rose of Lima Church, actively participating in daily Mass and leading the community in prayer through the recitation of the rosary. Her unwavering faith was exemplified through her volunteer work at church events like fish fry's, embodying the values of compassion and service. On July 11, 1953, Joyce married the love of her life David Mischloney at St. Mary Catholic Church in Alpena. They were married 61 years until he preceded her in death.

Joyce was a pillar of strength for her family. She is survived by her children, Richard (Artemis Damianakis) Mischloney, Steve (Lori) Mischloney, Maria Moody, Luann (David) Fitzpatrick, Beth MacKay; 15 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild and Joyce shared an unbreakable bond with her very close niece Lisa Stone. She was preceded in death by her husband, David, a son, Davey Jo, a grandson, Jacob Fitzpatrick, and both siblings, Dick VanWagnor and Wanda Sherwood. 

A visitation in honor of Joyce's life will take place at St. Anne Catholic Church in Alpena on Saturday, July 20th from 9:00 AM until the Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 A.M. with inurnment taking place at St. Rose Of Lima Cemetery immediately after the service.
