Joyce Lois King

Joyce Lois King, age 74, of Hubbard Lake passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at Sally's Care Home in Alpena.
On October 2, 1942, Joyce was born in Alpena, Michigan to the late August and Elsie (Preuss) Minke. She married Jack King in 1974 spending30 years together before he preceded her in death in 2004. In 2014, she lost her best friend (her Mother Elsie) after taking care of her for nearly 8 years. She graduated from Alpena High School, Alpena Community College, and Lake Superior State University. Joyce worked at the Huron House as a secretary for 28 years, for Wayne Wire Cloth for 5 years, and 3 years as secretary for Child and Family Services. She was member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, was Baptized in 1942, and was confirmed in 1956. Joyce enjoyed spending her time in her flower garden, going to the Hessel Antique Boat Show, and feeding her cats and dogs. Her greatest joy was "going out to eat" with family and friends at Gen'Ars, The Depot, and the North End restaurants. She was doing well with the rehab staff at Tender Care and anxious to return back to the farm and begin to drive again this summer.
Joyce is best known by her family and friends, as a person who always got great happiness and purpose in life by wanting to "treat" or take care of someone else at the sacrifice of taking care of herself. She never would ask for anything in return and was always the first to offer a complement.
She is survived by her two sons Richard (Laurie) Krentz of Bloomfield Hills, MI; Duane Cadarette of Herron, MI; a grand-daughter Kendra Krentz of Wilmington, Delaware; a grand-son Neal Krentz of East Lansing, MI; a sister Dixie (Dan) Crevier of Ossineke, MI; and two step-children: Jack King Jr. and Tamyra King both of FL.
Family and friends will gather for visitation on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 11a.m. until the Funeral Service begins at
2 p.m. with Rev. Joseph Llewellyn officiating at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home.
Internment: Evergreen Cemetery
