Joseph James Latier, fondly known as Joe Latier, was born on February 15, 1952, in Detroit, Michigan. He passed away on November 19, 4, at MediLodge of Alpena, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, love, and service.

Joe’s professional journey was defined by his commitment to his craft as a welder at Baker Enterprise, where he devoted over 40 years until his retirement. His expertise and work ethic made him a respected figure in his field, and he took immense pride in the quality of his work.

A proud veteran, Joe served his country honorably in the United States Army. His military service was a significant chapter in his life, and he carried the values of discipline and duty with him throughout his years.

In addition to his career and military contributions, Joe was known for his passion for playing pool. He enjoyed participating in various leagues for many years, finding joy and camaraderie in the sport. A true family man at heart, he cherished the moments spent with his loved ones, particularly during the holidays when the warmth of family gatherings brought him great happiness.

Joe’s legacy lives on through his family. He is survived by two stepchildren, David Rouleau and Tammy (Greg) Lacross, as well as two grandchildren, Katie Chojnacki and Corey Chojnacki. His siblings, brother John Latier, and sisters Edith Latier, Marjorie Neumann, and Etta Stosick, along with many nieces and nephews, will remember him with deep affection.

Throughout his life, Joe was actively involved in his community, contributing his time and energy to local organizations, including the VFW Post 2496 and other service clubs, exemplifying his commitment to supporting veterans and his community.

Joe Latier will be remembered not only for his professional accomplishments and community involvement but also for the joy and love he shared with his family and friends. As we celebrate his life, we honor his spirit and the many memories he created with those who were fortunate to know him.
