John A. Dumont

            John A. Dumont, age 84, of Ossineke, passed away on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Alpena.

            On February 23, 1935, John was born to the late Amil and Mary Amelia (McGillis) Dumont in Mikado, Michigan. He married Patricia A. Pilarski on September 14, 1963. John worked as a machinist for the Besser Company for 30 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church and an Usher for St. Catherine Catholic Church. John enjoyed spending his time tending to his tomato plants, deer hunting, and was a fan of the Detroit Tigers.

            He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Pat, and his three children: Theresa Dumont of Oscoda, MI; Todd Dumont of Saginaw, MI; and Debra (Jason) Monroe of Rochester Hills, MI; 5 grandchildren: Erik (Renee), Jacob, Krystal and Emma Dumont, and Maxwell Monroe; three great-grandchildren; three brothers Joe (Jackie) Dumont of Cadillac, MI; Jim (Caroline) Dumont of Troy, MI; Marty (Sonda) Dumont of Freeland, MI; two sisters: Janice Marion of Rochester, MI; and Mary Bruce of Imlay City, MI; along with several nieces and nephews.   

            John was preceded in death by one brother: Frank Dumont and one sister: Elaine Nimouth.

            Family and friends will gather for visitation on Tuesday, June 4, 2019, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 2pm until 8pm with a Parish Prayer Service at 7pm. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at St. Catherine Catholic Church from 10am until the 11am Mass of Christian Burial begins Rev. Bob Bissot officiating.

            Interment: St. Catherine Cemetery

            In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Bernard's Friendship Room or for masses to be said in memory of John.
