JoAnn Mary Hoos, passed away peacefully at the age of 82, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City on September 30, 2024 with her loving family by her side. JoAnn is now resting in God’s loving care with her parents, a daughter, Elizabeth M. Hoos and an infant daughter Catherine Ann Marie Hoos. She was born on March 30, 1942 in Detroit, Michigan to Arthur and Lisa (Sundquist) LaPointe.
After her ten-year battle with a brain tumor, her heart was truly devoted to the Lord our God. JoAnn had bookmarked and highlighted scripture John 17:4 “I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do”.
On November 4, 1961, JoAnn married the love of her life John F. Hoos, Sr. at St. John the Baptist Church in Dearborn, MI. They were married and raised their family together for nearly 63 years. JoAnn was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family, extended family, and the community. Along with her husband, she was a devout member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Hubbard Lake, Michigan.
JoAnn worked as a Home Care Health Nurse/Hospice Care Team in Alpena, Michigan. A lifelong resident of Ossineke, Michigan for over 40 years.
JoAnn was a devoted mother to Teresa Hoos of Carrolton, Texas, Dwayne & Marianne (Hoos) Machinski of Cocao, Florida, John Hoos, Jr. of Alpena, Michigan and Matthew & Lisa Hoos of Alpena, Michigan, a loving grandmother to her 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, and a caring sister to her brother, Michael (Gail) LaPointe of Westland, Michigan.
JoAnn was a constant source of support, guidance, and love to her 6 nieces and nephew. She found joy in spending time with her family, offering wisdom and warmth that shaped the lives of those who knew her. Her nurturing spirit, generous heart, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by everyone fortunate enough to have shared life with her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Hubbard Lake, Michigan from 9:00 am to 11:00 am with gathering of family and all friends and memorial service beginning at 11:00 am officiated by Pastor Joseph Llewellyn. A fellowship luncheon will follow immediately after the service. JoAnn’s final resting place will be at Wolf Creek Lutheran Cemetery in Herron, Michigan with a private service for family.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation to St. Paul Lutheran Church (Child Care Fund), Hubbard, Lake, Michigan. A.E. Ross Funeral Home has been entrusted with JoAnn’s care and arrangements.
