Janis R. Gustafson

Janis R. Gustafson, age 86, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Alpena.

            On August 24, 1932, Janis was born to the late Joseph Sikorski and Rose Neimiec in Alpena, Michigan. She worked for the Alpena Wholesale Grocery for 19 years and later for Thunder Bay Manufacturing. Janis was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and enjoyed spending time with her family and in her flower gardens.

            She is survived by her two daughters: Tina Gustafson and Lisa (Bill Johnson) Martin both of Alpena, MI; four granddaughters: Sara Lappan, Ashley Martin, Kristi Martin, and Lorah Lappan, along with three great-grandchildren: Olivia Vogelheim, Jaxon Laidlaw, and Julian Laidlaw.

            Janis was preceded in death by her daughter Cathe Lappan

            Per her wishes Janis has been taken from the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home for cremation. A Grave Side Committal Service will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery on Monday, June 10, 2019, at 1 pm with Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating.
