Helen Kolakowski

Helen Kolakowski, age 99, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Covenant Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan.

            On October 27, 1918, Helen was born to the late Andrew and Ceclia (Raniszewski) Skowron in Posen, Michigan. She married William Kolakowski on April 24, 1937, at Our Lady Queen of the Apostles Church in Detroit, MI. He preceded her in death on March 13, 1989. Helen enjoyed spending time with family, and family outings along with traveling.

            Helen is survived by her 6 children: Patricia (John) Roop of Utica, MI; Betty (James) Lee of Rochester, MI; William A. (Rhonda) Kolakowski of Deford, MI; Arlene (John) Randall of Bridgeport, MI; Larry (Patricia) Kolakowski of Sandusky, MI; Debbie (James) Compton of Shelby Twp, MI; 26 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren; one sister Irene Wcisel of Alpena, MI; and several nieces and nephews.

            She was preceded in death by one daughter Lori Pena; three brothers: Edward, Joseph , Leo Skowron; three sisters Juila Kapala, Virginia Iavalda, and Delores Skowron.

            Family and friends will gather for Visitation on Friday, May 4, 2018, from 2 pm until 8 pm at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home, with a Parish Prayer Service at 7pm. Visitation will continue on Saturday, May 5, 2018, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church from 10 am until the Mass of Christian Burial begins at 11 am with Rev. Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating.

            Internment: St. Rose Cemetery in Herron, Michigan

            Memorials may be made to friends choice in memory of Helen.
