Harry Stanley Tolzdorf

     Harry Stanley Tolzdorf, 98, of Alpena passed away Monday, February 14, 2022 in Petoskey.  Harry was born on August 22, 1923 in Alpena to the late Stanley and Estella (Gutkowski) Tolzdorf. 

    Harry was a veteran of the US Navy, served in WW II on the USS Owen as a boilermaker, fireman, and water tender. He married Phyllis Kaminski on January 7, 1950 in Custer, Michigan. They shared 63 years together. Harry worked as a wheelsman on the Great Lakes, then in heat maintenance for Alpena Public Schools. He was a member of St Bernard Church, the Knights of Columbus, VFW Post #2496 and its Honor Guard.

     Surviving Harry are his children Roger (Gail) Tolzdorf of Harbor Springs and Cinthia Scheller of Howell, and two grandsons; Benjamin (Andi) Tolzdorf and Charles Scheller.  He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis, five brothers; Bert, Julius, Edward, Leo and Joseph and four sisters; Frances Mischley, Stella Addams, Celia Panknin, and Eleanor Fry.

          A committal service will be held this summer at Harry's final resting place in Holy Cross Cemetery, Alpena.  The family requests that any memorial donations be made to AdvisaCare Hospice, 220 E Garfield Ave., Charlevoix, MI 49720
