Greg F. Bertrand

            Greg F. Bertrand, age 54, of Alpena, Michigan passed away peacefully with his loving sister by his side, on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan after a long fight with illness.

            Greg was born in Alpena, Michigan on January 29, 1966, to Marlene (Bates) Bertrand.

            He leaves behind his mother: Marlene Bertrand; one sister: Vanessa (Dave) Gapske Jr. both of Alpena, MI; his other half: Linda Kelly and her daughter Kristy Hobbs and grandson Kaleb who adored his "Pappy" all of Topeka, KS; three stepchildren: Jeffey, Heather, and Nathan. He will be greatly missed by his niece Amber (fiancé Neal Turpen) Gapske and great nephew Colton.

            Greg was preceded in death by his niece Heather Gapske and his grandmother Roma Bates.

            Greg grew up in Alpena, Michigan and moved to Detroit, Michigan then settled in Topeka, Kansas for 12 years, until his return home to Alpena due to illness.

            He enjoyed Nascar races, camping, fishing, coming in First Place in the Lawn Tractor Races in Kansas and enjoyed working hard on small engines. He had a love for animals, especially his German Sheppard's; many called him the dog whisperer. Greg had an adventurous soul and a heart of gold, always willing to lend a helping hand with anyone in need. He will be remembered for his goofy, funny sense of humor and will be missed by his family and friends. He was honored to be called "Pappy."   

            Per his wishes, Greg was taken for cremation. Arrangements were handled through the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home. A Celebration of Greg's Life will be held in the summer of 2021, and will be announced by the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home at a later date.

            Memorials may be made to the Huron Humane Society in Greg's memory.
