Glenn C. Richards, age 67, of Alpena lost his hard fought battle with cancer the first day of spring, Thursday, March 19, 2020, at Mid-Michigan Medical Center of Alpena.
Glenn was born in Hamtramck, Michigan a suburb of Detroit to the late Leonard and Mary (Egelski) Richards, April 6, 1952. Glenn was proud being the Class of 1970, Farmington High School with Honor Cords. This Fall at his 50th Class Reunion they plan to have a special tribute just for him. Glenn was proud to have studied Industrial Engineering at U of M. He was also proud he worked on the Stealth Fighter during the Gulf War at GE. Glenn was a collaborator song writer featured on You Tube at "Way Out Wayne." He never got to finish his song writing "Back to the Waters" referencing, retiring to Alpena, his Mother's hometown. Glenn was also very proud of his three children and six grandchildren. Glenn loved all the Detroit and U of M Sports Teams, Classic Rock Music and his fishing spots here on Long Lake.
Glenn is survived by his wife of 2 and a half years, Victoria Lee (Allen) Richards; his two daughters: Carrie (Richards) West of Farmington, MI and Cassie Richards of Redford, MI; his six grandchildren: Zach and Mackenzie Richards of Westland, MI; Chad and Gwen Richards of Farmington, MI; Alexia and Ava Wasson of Redford, MI; one brother Leonard Richards of Atlantic Mine, MI; one sister Debbie (Cook) Lemon of Levering, MI and several other family members and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his son: Jim Richards just months before him in 2019, and one sister Karen (Richards) Skiba of Langsburg, MI.
Glenn was a personable, good-natured, sweet, loving good man, who will be missed dearly by all the souls he touched. There will be upcoming announced graveside services, once it's safer for all to travel and attend at a later date.
Arrangements are being handled through the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home and are incomplete at this time, a complete obituary will be announced by the Karpus-Hunter Funeral.
