Gail E. Textor, age 96, of Presque Isle, Michigan passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in the care of Hospice of Michigan on Friday, March 16, 2018, at the Davison Care Home.
On November 27, 1921, Gail was born in Warren, Ohio to the late Glenn and Iva (Fresher) Blankenhorn. On December 7, 1943, she married Dr. Earl G. Textor. Gail was a Kindergarten teacher for 25 years. She graduated with a Bachelor's degree from Kirksville Teachers College. She was a member of Pi Kappa Sigma. Gail was a Music Director who started the bell choir at the First Congregational Church in Grand Blanc, MI. She was active in music circles at the college and was a soloist. Gail was also a member of the Symphony Orchestra in Flint, MI. She volunteered as a schoolmarm at the old schoolhouse at Crossroads Village in the Flint area. Gail was the President of Philentopic Education Organization, a Cub Scout Leader, and a member of Delta Kappa Gamma. Her brave event was to bike around Holland and Netherlands which she loved. She volunteered for Hospice of Flint, MI and cared for children with cancer. Being a mother and grandmother was her first priority. She told her grandchildren days before she passed, "Life wasn't complete for Grandpa and I until all of you came into our lives." She was a beloved aunt.
She is survived by her son Larry (Ruth) Textor of Presque Isle, MI; five grandchildren: Dr. Jamie (Mike) Textor-Wilkinson, Tyler (Heather) Textor, Trisha (Will) Textor-Gerrity, Ryan Textor, and Logan Textor; four great-grandchildren: Emily Textor, Lauren Textor, Daphne Wilkinson, and Nicholas Wilkinson; and several nieces and nephews. Caregivers Cindy, Theresa and Laurie who cared for Gail with much love and respect, in her last year of life, which the family will be forever grateful for.
She is preceded in death by her husband Dr. Earl Textor, one son Ronald Textor, three brothers, and three sisters.
Per her wishes Gail has been taken from the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home for Cremation. A Memorial Service will be held in the summer in Grand Blanc, MI.
Internment: Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Blanc, MI.
