Edwin J. Cohoon

            Edwin J. Cohoon, age 91, of Beaver Lake passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 10, 2019, at Medilodge of Alpena.

            On March 15, 1928, Edwin was born in Rust Township to the late Edwin and Elsie (Cripps) Cohoon. He married Verla Goodrich on July 13, 1945. Edwin worked in the woods all of his life; where his passion was; and he owned his own trucking company for several years. In the summer of his earlier years he farmed his own strawberries to haul to the Eastern Market, later he worked for the River's Edge Golf Course retiring in 2010. Edwin enjoyed spending his free time fishing in Canada.

            He is survived by his eight children: Diane Stevenson of Ocala, FL; Edwin (Sue) Cohoon of Alpena, MI; Susan Compeau of Lachine, MI; Cindy (Rick) Montie of Posen, MI; Lois (Gary) Bendig of Hubbard Lake, MI; Bonnie McPherson of Lachine, MI; Bradley (Patricia) Cohoon of Hale, MI; Matthew (Jessica) Cohoon of Lachine, MI; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; one brother Larry (Doris) Cohoon of Hartland, MI; along with several nieces and nephews.

            Edwin was preceded in death by his wife Verla, one son Roger Cohoon; and four brothers: Perry, Steven, Burton "Buck", and Bud; three sisters Eva, Mary, and Mildred.       

            Per his wishes Edwin was taken from Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home for cremation and a private a family memorial will be held at a later date.
