David G. Idalski

            David G. Idalski, age 80, of Alpena passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 4, 2019, at home.

            On November 17, 1938, David was born to the late Walter and Clementine "Tina" (Hilla) Idalski in Alpena, MI. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict. David married Louise Jaskolski on August 19, 1961, at St. Anne Catholic Church. He attended ACC and Ferris College where he earned his Bachelor's Degree in Social Work. He then worked for the Michigan Dept of Social Services Adult Foster Care for 37 years retiring in 1997. David was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He loved fishing, fitness, the Navy service, Golden Gloves, the Tigers and Lions; most of all he loved to laugh and enjoy spending time with his family.

            David is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Louise and their four children: Greg (Michelle) Idalski of Alpena, MI; Mark Idalski of Clawson, MI; Colleen (Todd) Konieczny of Herron, MI; Darcy Idalski (David Murphy) of Alpena, MI; five grandchildren: Reilly and Jase Walker; Cameron, Anna and Ellie Konieczny; two brothers Patrick Idalski of Brookhaven, GA and Steve (Cathy) Idalski of Alpena, MI; one sister-in-law: Patsy Idalski and one brother-in-law Gary (Mary) Risteau along with several nieces and nephews.

            He was preceded in death by his grandson Jacob Walker, one sister Nancy Risteau, one brother Norman Idalski, and one sister-in-law Jeanette.

            Family and friends will gather for Visitation on Saturday, September 7, 2019, at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home from 2 pm until 8 pm, with Full Military Honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post 2496 beginning at 6 pm. Visitation will continue at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Sunday, September 8, 2019, from 11am until the Funeral Service begins at 12 noon with Fr. James Fitzpatrick officiating.

            Internment: Holy Cross Cemetery

            In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Michigan in memory of David.
