Charles Eugene Kienzle

Charles Eugene Kienzle, age 80, of Alpena, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday, January 10, 2016 at home.
Charles was born to Eugene "Babe" and Lucille "Peach" (Murdey) Kienzle on July 10, 1935 in Bay City, Michigan. He attended Bay City Central High School and Central Michigan University. Charles married his best friend Darlene Arthur Blankenburg in 1962 in Alpena at the Church of God. Charlie was employed at Montgomery Wards and later at the Overhead Door Company. He was a member of the Alpena Exchange Club and a member of Lost Acres Hunting Club since 1972. He enjoyed playing cards, fishing, hunting, camping, casino trips and spending time with his family.
Charles is survived by his loving wife Darlene of 54 years and their five children: David (Cathy) Blankenburg of Alpena, Nancy (Jerry) Hentkowski of Alpena, Glenn (Becky) Blankenburg of Reno, NV, Judy (Alan) Weinkauf of Alpena, and Karen (Kenneth) Krauss of Alpena; nine grandchildren Bryce Blankenburg, Jerome (Jean) Hentkowski, Jennifer (Jacob) Robinson, Joshua Blankenburg, Janelle Blankenburg, Chase Weinkauf, Kevin Krauss, Charles J. Kienzle and Cameron Krauss; five great-grandchildren: Zachary, Joshua and Hannah Hentkowski, Bradyn Hentkowski, Ian Robinson, and many nieces and nephews and his Aunt Betty and Uncle John Reed of Palm Desert, CA.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother Robert Chase Kienzle, and sister in-law Sandra Kienzle.
Family and friends will gather for memorial visitation on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral home from 3pm until the Memorial Service begins at the Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home at 5pm with Rev. James Erickson Officiating. Full Military Honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post 2496 immediately following.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Huron Humane Society.
