Carl Louis Goeke, age 72, of Alpena, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 24, 2016, at home after an extended illness.
Carl was born on October 25, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to the late Gerald and Bernice (Hammerschmidt) Goeke. He honorably served in the US Army, US Air Force, and the National Guard. On October 1, 1994, he married Marialaina LaPlant-Yeagy. Carl is a member of the Free Methodist Church of Alpena. Carl was a car buff and a major Nascar fan. During his 5 year fight with cancer he was building a Cobra from scratch.
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 years, Marialaina and their children: Christine (Rick) Wysocki of Alpena, MI; Steve Goeke of Cheboygan, MI; step-daughter Andrea (Steve) Hoinka of Frisco, TX; and step-son Jason (Tara) Yeagy of Westland; his three brothers Clifford (Sandy) Goeke, Raymond (Kathy) Goeke, and Norman Goeke, his three sisters: Dori (Bill) French, Joyce (Joe) Demski, and Terri (Jon) Ciochetto.
Carl was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Goeke.
Family and friends will gather for a Memorial on Saturday, January 14, 2017, beginning at 1 pm at the Alpena Free Methodist Church (on the corner of 3rd street and Ripley Blvd.), beginning with Full Military Honors accorded by the V.F.W. Post 2496, followed by the Memorial Service with Pastor Richard George officiating.
