Brent L. Mcconnell

            Brent L. McConnell, age 65, formerly of Ossineke, MI; passed away Wednesday, July 10, 2019, in LaGrande, Oregon.

            On January 3, 1954, Brent was born in Mount Clemens, Michigan to Orrin and Ruth (Anderson) McConnell. Brent was a Merchant Marine Engineer for the American Steamship Company for 42 years, retiring in 2017. He married Karen Kauffman on May 21, 1977, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Fr. Terrence Raymond officiating. Brent enjoyed traveling, fishing, hunting, hiking, motorcycle riding; but most of all spending time with his family. Brent loved to strike up a conversation with anyone who would lend him an ear. He especially liked to talk about his family, Side A Brewing, and politics.

            He is survived by his wife Karen of 42 years, and their two children: Scott (Alicia) McConnell and Nicole McConnell of LaGrande, OR; two grandchildren Fern and Lillian McConnell; his parents: Orrin and Ruth McConnell of Alpena, MI; one sister Terri Konecki of Alpena, MI; along with several Aunts, Uncles, cousins, and several nieces and nephews.

            Family and friends will gather for memorial visitation at Karpus-Hunter Funeral Home on Sunday, August 4, 2019, from 4 pm until 8 pm.  Visitation will continue on Monday, August 5, 2019, at St. Catherine Catholic Church from 10 am until the 11 am Memorial Service begins with Fr. Stan Bereda officiating. 

            Inurnment: Island City Pioneer Cemetery

            Memorials: St. Vincent DePaul; St. Jude Children's Hospital; Shriner Children's Hospital.
