Bernard A. "Bernie" Schaedig, 78, of Alpena passed away peacefully on September 5, 2020.
Bernie was born February 25, 1942, in Moltke Township to the late Alfonse and Ethel (Krueger) Schaedig. He married Suzanne Bisson August 7, 1965 at St. Ignatius Church in Rogers City. Bernie was a truck driver for Huron Distributors for thirty six years, retiring in May of 2003. He was an Army veteran having served in the Vietnam War from 1962 to 1964 as a Military Policeman. He was a member of St. Anne's Catholic Church as well as the K of C (3rd degree), Michigan Sheriff's Association, and the National Law Enforcement Association.
Bernie is survived by son, Michael Schaedig of Detroit, several nieces and nephews, as well as three sisters: Geneva (George) Buckmaster of Hemlock, MI, Ingrid (Edward) Gerger of Caledonia, MI and Audrey (Ronald) Grulke of Ellsworth, MI.
Bernie was preceded in death by beloved wife, Suzanne on December 15, 2005, son, Steven on September 15, 2015 and brother, Frederick Schaedig.
Per his wishes, Bernie has been taken from Karpus- Hunter Funeral Home for cremation. A Memorial Service including Full Military Honors will be held at a later date. Services and complete obituary will be announced at a later date by Karpus Hunter Funeral Home.
Inurnment: Holy Cross Cemetery
Memorials in Bernie's name may be made to the Huntington's Disease Society of America or the American Kidney Fund.
